Modern Software Solutions for Comprehensive Test Bench Management
Flexible and Scalable Management System – Built for Tomorrow's Requirements
So called production resources and tools need to be staged on a regular basis in order to set up test benches. ZF Friedrichshafen AG previously used an Access-based software system to manage PRTs and document warehouse parts. When this legacy system had reached its limits after twelve years in terms of maintainability, usability and further development, ZF Friedrichshafen AG decided to replace it.
Using the new system known as TAMS, processes can be handled more efficiently and additional functions mapped such as maintenance notifications or documentation. Interfaces to additional internal ZF systems enable TAMS to be used in other departments.
With the newly developed "TAMS" system, existing processes can be handled more efficiently and additional functions such as maintenance notifications or documentation can be mapped. It can also be used in other departments via interfaces to other internal ZF systems.
Automating Existing Processes to Reduce Workloads
The system manages production resources such as assembly equipment, measuring tools, and inspection-required items, both internally and externally. For efficient test bench setup, it ensures that the right parts are available at the right time and in the right quantity. It provides test bench engineers with a clear overview of required resources, their storage locations, and availability—functioning seamlessly across multiple sites.
The new software introduced a standardized database with centralized master data management, enabling future process automation. Additionally, roles and rights management ensures secure access for authorized users only.

TAMS paves the way for efficient test bench operations. It significantly fosters internationalisation and global cooperation across all development sites – not least thanks to its ability to be extended to integrate future processes. In terms of functionality, performance and visual appearance, we’ve succeeded in producing something really special with this program thanks to the collaboration with doubleSlash. – Timo Henkel, Senior Manager, Test Bench Technology/Measuring Technology, ZF Friedrichhafen AG, Car Driveline Technology Division
High User Acceptance Through Agile Methodology
The system was developed using an agile approach. This meant that the key users were continuously involved in the development process, could see the current status of the software at all times and have their feedback integrated straight away. A high level of acceptance was generated for the new system in this way.
For increased ease of use, TAMS is integrated into the single sign-on environment on ZF’S intranet. To access the system, employees only need to log in once to Windows.
