Many products with constantly expanding customisation options and new sales channels place special demands on the technical development and improvement of product configurators. On the one hand, the user needs to be able to navigate intuitively through the configurator. At the same time, the software should be capable of checking the feasibility of customer requests in real time and making alternative suggestions if required. Additional factors are product visualisation and price calculation – in accordance with the relevant market and legal requirements. In cooperation with BMW, we implemented a product configurator that meets these requirements in an efficient, resource-saving manner.

Agile digitalisation of business processes
The project included further development of the BMW vehicle configurator and optimisation of related processes regarding data supply, for example. We also adapted the platform to a heterogeneous system landscape. The system is based on large quantities of product data on the one hand, as well as numerous statutory regulations and market requirements. Additionally, many partners were involved and had to be coordinated for efficient project management. We were able to apply our expertise in the digitalisation of business processes and business logic in this project, as well as our knowledge of agile Scrum methods.
