A day of theory and practice
doubleSlash employees kicked off the event by presenting the company and its locations in Munich, Friedrichshafen and Stuttgart. As an IT service provider for software development, consulting and individual IT solutions, doubleSlash supports companies in optimizing processes and successfully implementing digital innovations.
The focus of the day was on building bridges between university teaching and company practice: students were able to ask employees questions directly about entry opportunities, requirements in everyday working life and collaboration in projects.
Hands-on software development and IT consulting
The morning initially offered an insight into the professional field of IT consulting and typical tasks of business IT specialists. Using specific practical examples, consultants showed how they work with customer teams to analyze requirements, structure processes and jointly develop digital solutions.
After a joint lunch break and a tour of the Munich office, the focus was on perspectives from software development. In a second presentation, the guests learned about the day-to-day work of developers—from the design and implementation to testing and operation of software solutions.
Short hands-on sequences ensured that the students not only got to know the job profiles, but were able to actively experience them: How are user stories created from requirements? How does an agile team work together? Which tools are used in everyday project work?
"I particularly liked how openly the students approached us and how many specific questions they asked about our day-to-day work," says Linda Schey, software developer at doubleSlash. "It's fun to trace the path from code to the finished solution together with the students and to show how we work together as a team."
Focus on team culture, structures and collaboration
In addition to technical topics, collaboration within the team also played a central role. The students were given an insight into the structures and working methods at doubleSlash: interdisciplinary teams, agile methods, the use of AI, regular exchanges and open cooperation on an equal footing.
It was also about the question of what makes working at doubleSlash more than just technology, such as the opportunity to take on responsibility, to continuously develop and to work together as a team to create solutions that help customers in the long term. The result is a lively insight into a working culture in which enjoyment of the job and professional excellence go hand in hand.
Prospects for starting a career
To conclude, doubleSlash provided information about current entry opportunities: from internships and working student activities to final theses and direct entry into the areas of software development and IT consulting. The application process was also presented transparently with practical tips on what is important in terms of documents, motivation and interviews.
With the visit as part of the University Practice Days, doubleSlash strengthens the dialog between universities and corporate practice and shows what career opportunities are available in the field of computer science and business informatics. In the future, the company would also like to give students an insight into current projects and career paths and thus provide orientation for entry into the IT sector.
