Knowing What Works: doubleSlash Provides Insights Into the Company and the Professional World of IT

4. September 2020 | Friday

As part of the vacation campaign "wissen was geht!", pupils once again had the opportunity to get to know the Häfler software company doubleSlash - this year virtually via video conference.

What exactly do you actually do in software development? What does a typical day at doubleSlash look like? What training and study opportunities are there? On September 3, 2020, 15 young people were given answers to these questions and the opportunity to discover the world of IT during a virtual get-together.

HR officer Sonja Egle first gave an insight into the company, including a virtual tour of the premises. "For us, junior staff are an important part of the doubleSlash team. We value long-term employee retention and support our colleagues through their various phases of life. Many of them started with us as interns and have now been with the company as permanent employees for several years," explains Egle. As a result, there are currently a total of 40 junior employees spread across the three locations in Friedrichshafen, Munich and Stuttgart

Apprentices and employees share insider knowledge

To give the participants insights into various job profiles and training paths, Theo Klautke (IT trainee) talked about his experiences in the field of application development. Software developer Judith Kleck described her career in media informatics and showed which projects she works on at doubleSlash. Her message: computer science is not as "nerdy" as many people think.

"The vacation campaign is a great option for us to show young people at an early age what there is to do in IT and what opportunities are available here—maybe one or two will even discover their new dream job here," says Sonja Egle.
