"wissen was geht!" is a cooperation between the Lake Constance Economic Development Agency and companies from the region. "The format gives young people the chance to gain insights into companies," says Sonja Egle, HR Officer at doubleSlash. "Computer science in particular offers many opportunities and numerous professional fields. The event therefore helps with career orientation and offers pupils the opportunity to make their first contacts in the industry."
Getting to know the world of software development
What exactly do you actually do in software development? What does a typical day at doubleSlash look like? What training and study opportunities are there? The students not only gained technical insights, but also met two trainees who told them all about applying, vocational school and their jobs. Another colleague also talked about studying computer science and the opportunities to get a taste of practical experience in the form of an internship. Of course, there was also plenty of time to ask questions. "Do you need previous knowledge to study computer science?" asked one student, for example. They also learned a few tricks for a successful application. Even though the event gave everyone involved the opportunity to get to know each other virtually, doubleSlash is already looking forward to next year, when the students can be welcomed to the new building in Friedrichshafen—the Software Innovation Center –.
