The term "occupational health management (OHM)" is appearing more and more frequently in the media and is being demanded as a benefit by Generation Z in particular. The software company doubleSlash has been offering workplace health programs for several years. A holistic program has now been developed from this.
In its quest for innovation, the company is committed to modern concepts that not only support the day-to-day work of around 330 employees, but also sustainably improve their well-being. These include, for example, flexible working time models and hybrid forms of work or Workation, which enable employees to organize their everyday lives in an individual way. The promotion of a healthy lifestyle is supported by offerings such as mindfulness courses, sports events and preventive medical check-ups. Aware that physical and mental health are always linked, the software company has now launched a comprehensive OHM concept.
BGM as a holistic concept
The aim of occupational health management is to provide colleagues with information and offers that support them in maintaining their health and well-being. "The definition of health goes beyond the mere absence of illness and encompasses a state of complete mental, physical and social well-being. It is therefore our aim to establish our occupational health management across a broad spectrum," explains Simon Scheutwinkel, HR Officer for BGM at doubleSlash.
BGM at doubleSlash is therefore divided into four core areas. Each of these areas includes various benefits, workshops and courses:
- Physical fitness: e.g. regional sports offers, sports events, back courses and much more.
- Mental health, e.g. workshops on mindfulness-based stress reduction or the offer of an anonymous advice hotline for mental stress
- Nutrition: e.g. nutrition courses and individual nutritional advice
- Medical care: e.g. flu vaccinations, eye examinations, supplementary health insurance and much more.
Transparency and credibility as guiding principles
doubleSlash's company health initiatives are characterized by transparency and credibility. The company attaches great importance to disclosing its efforts, standards and successes in the area of occupational health management. OHM is not viewed as an isolated unit, but is firmly anchored in the company and team structures. It is also organized and implemented by trained personnel. The sports courses, for example, are run in cooperation with the company health insurance fund ZF & Partner or its partner companies in Munich and Stuttgart. Thanks to his academic degree in psychology, Simon Scheutwinkel leads the courses to promote mindfulness and stress reduction. The planned nutritional measures are also carried out by recognized experts. Preventive check-ups are carried out regularly by the company doctor or medical assistants.
Individual usability
doubleSlash presents the OHM as a holistic concept that integrates not only the mental, but also the physical and social aspects of well-being. The offers are visible to all employees and can be used individually. The company focuses on the implementation of required measures, team spirit and participation. Surveys and needs-oriented measures are at the forefront, while trend orientation is avoided.
Health and team spirit combined
Jan Bremauer, Software Developer at doubleSlash, has already taken part in one of the sports courses. "For me, an offer like this is a welcome change from the daily work routine. In addition to learning sports exercises to promote physical balance, I really enjoyed working on our fitness together with my colleagues and experiencing the good atmosphere and cooperation within the team."
The combination of health and team spirit is at the heart of doubleSlash's BGM activities. Through sports activities and joint runs, the company not only aims to promote physical health, but also to strengthen team cohesion. For example, the company sponsors participation in various sporting events in the region, such as the Fischbach half marathon or the ZF company run.
"Our OHM is built on the basis of our values. Community and transparency are the cornerstones of our concept. The offers should have a lasting effect and inspire long-term enthusiasm," says Jan Zimmermann, HR officer for occupational health management at doubleSlash. With an authentic and well thought-out concept, doubleSlash wants to introduce more than just an additional benefit, but to continue to promote the way its employees work in a sustainable and healthy way. BGM should not just be an offer, but an integral part of everyday working life.
