"Without sponsors like doubleSlash, the Fischbach Half Marathon could not take place," says Harald Sewzc, organizer of the Fischbach Half Marathon. "We want to get people moving and an event like this is a great opportunity to do so."
In Fischbach, exercise enthusiasts can also compete in several disciplines: Half marathon, Viertele, Nordic walking and school run offer the right route for everyone who wants to get active.
There are also a few new features this year: for the first time, youngsters taking part in the school run will have the opportunity to determine the city champion over their distances.
The Dwarf Marathon is also new. Here, every child born in 2012 or later can put their skills to the test over a distance of 421.95 meters.
The third innovation is the See3Laufcup, which is taking place for the first time this year. Those who complete the races in Fischbach, Hagnau and Kressbronn can win great prizes in the overall standings. Additional prizes will be raffled off among the participants in all three races. "This should provide an additional incentive," says Sewcz.
Lord Mayor Brand is patron of the running event—and personally awards the winners of the school run
This year's patron of the Fischbach Half Marathon is Mayor Andreas Brand, who will also be holding the award ceremony for the school runners.
"Unfortunately, we don't have that many registrations for the school run yet. I know the event is during the vacations, but we would be delighted if a few more motivated schoolchildren registered," says Harald Sewcz. There is no entry fee for pupils
doubleSlash has been one of the main sponsors of the half marathon for many years. "We are a sporty company that does a lot for the health of its employees. That's why we also pay the entry fee for our employees. Exercising together is fun and also strengthens the team spirit," says Sandra Ströhle, responsible for health management at doubleSlash.
Helpers and marshals needed
An event like this also needs a lot of helpers. Harald Sewcz is therefore still looking for helpers and marshals. Membership of TSV-Fischbach is not a prerequisite—Anyone can lend a hand. It takes about three hours on the course. Interested parties can register here.
