DoubleSlash Launches Connected Bike Platform for Micromobility Services

24. August 2017 | Thursday

Just in time for Eurobike, the software company doubleSlash is taking off in the micromobility market. With the launch of the doubleSlash Connected Bike platform, the company is offering intelligent and connected services with a focus on two-wheelers.

The offer is aimed at component and bicycle manufacturers who want to network their bicycles and thus expand their hardware with functions from the cloud.
The first functions available via the platform are: Emergency call, theft protection, localization and current bike status.

Cloud infrastructure for bike manufacturers out of the box

The functions can be used and expanded by developers via a simple interface (API). Bicycle manufacturers therefore no longer have to worry about developing and providing a cloud infrastructure  , but can concentrate on their core competencies. The networking of bicycles and the connection to cloud functions will be child's play. doubleSlash thus offers the first platform for the networking of two-wheelers that is specially optimized for the requirements of micromobility.
"We want to optimally support the speed of innovation of bicycle manufacturers with our platform. Customers should have additional added value through the services and be able to use this alternative form of mobility more easily," says Konrad Krafft, Managing Director at doubleSlash.
The development of further customer-friendly functions such as a service booklet and routing is already planned for 2018.

Connected bike platform as the basis for new business models in the micromobility sector

The doubleSlash Connected Bike platform can be individually enhanced with functions such as data analysis or configuration options. It also serves as the basis for new business models in the field of micromobility, such as fleet management or bike sharing concepts. Together with our partner, BFO mobility GmbH, which offers the integration of communication electronics, a holistic and secure solution is provided from the electronics to the cloud.
doubleSlash Net-Business GmbH already has many years of experience with software-based mobility solutions in the automotive sector.
"We see micromobility as a growing and innovative market. City centers in major cities are becoming increasingly congested and there is a lack of parking space. Micromobility closes a gap here between the car and local public transport," says Walter Melcher, Connected Bike expert at doubleSlash.
