Just a few meters from our current headquarters, the doubleSlash Software Innovation Center (SIZ) will be built in the Competence Park Friedrichshafen by 2022. There will be space for around 300 workstations on approx. 5,000 square meters - including a spacious outdoor area and roof terrace for a pleasant working and feel-good atmosphere. Construction is due to start at the beginning of 2020.

Employees involved in the concept phase

"It was important to us that our colleagues were actively involved in the SIZ project," says Patrick Schmerbach, Project Manager for the new building and Associated Partner. That's why the wishes and requirements of the employees were asked for before the project started and were largely incorporated into the design and planning of the new building.

We are building together with Prisma, the previous landlord, in whose buildings (CPF 1, CPF 3 and SEESTATT) we are already at home today. "It's simply getting too cramped, we need to prepare for the coming years and want to offer enough workspaces for more colleagues in the future," says Managing Director Andreas Strobel.

The move into the new building is planned for January 2022 at the latest—An office building for 260 to 310 employees is to be built on an area of 5,000 square meters. There will also be an underground parking garage for 130 parking spaces, including 20 e-parking spaces with charging stations and around 80 bicycle parking spaces for all cycling enthusiasts at doubleSlash.

Around 120 employees currently work in Friedrichshafen, with additional offices in Munich and Stuttgart.

Interior design focuses on teamwork

The design of the building places great emphasis on teamwork. The building is divided into different zones that allow concentrated work on the one hand and provide space for meetings and other communicative work on the other. Each employee has a fixed workstation in offices for 4 or 5 people, with the option of working together in larger project areas as required. There will be many meeting rooms, as well as smaller retreats for concentrated work.

"We work in specialist teams that focus on specific topics. Communication and the opportunity to work together effectively are very important," says Patrick Schmerbach. There needs to be space to discuss opposing points of view, discuss strategies or simply conduct research in special working groups or labs. The new building is also designed to suit this way of working.

Promoting work-life balance

Common rooms, space for relaxation, fitness and sport are also important to us at the SIZ. Several meeting rooms, which are flexibly designed, and individual relaxation zones divide the building into work and leisure areas and into loud and quiet zones. This includes table football, fitness rooms with showers and a large roof terrace as well as family-friendly meeting rooms, a gaming corner and a quiet room for individual relaxation. "We are creating modern and good workplaces where people should feel comfortable," says Andreas Strobel.
