Digital inclusive education: What's behind it all

More and more areas of social life are becoming digital, but not everyone can participate in this digital life and use these technologies. This access and support is not yet guaranteed, especially for people with disabilities.

Friedrichshafen, 15.12.2022—In a global, digital information society, access to and use of media is becoming increasingly important.
This is particularly true for people with different requirements and disabilities.

For this reason, the Friedrichshafen-based software company doubleSlash has decided to support the "Digital Inclusive Education" project of the Neuland workshops in Wilhelmsdorf with a donation this year. This is part of the Zieglerschen's disability assistance division.

Regional, value-oriented and sustainable partnerships

The collaboration between the two companies began two years ago. The Neuland workshops offer companies in the region various services—including the packaging and shipping of goods.
"Last year, our Christmas presents for our employees and customers were lovingly packaged and sent by the people at the Neuland workshops. And we took advantage of this offer again this year," says Julia Hensle from Human Resources at doubleSlash.

The Neuland workshops run by the Wilhelmsdorf-based social enterprise "Die Zieglerschen" are innovative and live inclusion: people with disabilities receive support, help and guidance here. This gives them the opportunity to get involved in society that they would otherwise not have on the job market.

"The work of the Neuland workshops is so valuable. We would like to thank them for this and also support the institution's commitment to digital education with a donation," says Hanna Pfaff, Corporate Communication at doubleSlash.

More and more areas of social life are becoming digital, but not all people can participate in this digital life and use these technologies. This access and support is not yet guaranteed, especially for people with disabilities.

The aim of this project is to promote new and appropriate support services for people with disabilities through digital media. Through suitable strategies and solutions, new technologies such as navigation, voice assistance systems, tablets and smartphones should help people to break down social barriers in order to take full advantage of equal rights.
doubleSlash is supporting the project with €2,600 for two tablets with app equipment in the field of assisted communication.

"Due to the diverse possibilities of digital technologies, people with disabilities experience digitalization as a means that enables and complements participation and encounters," emphasizes Andrea Rudolph, Head of the Zieglerschen Neuland-Werkstätten. "Digital media and platforms enable new access to social areas. This leads to an increase in autonomy, skills, knowledge and expertise as well as networking and participation. We would like to thank doubleSlash for financing the hardware so that we can continue to live out digitalization in our - professional - everyday lives," says Rudolph.

"As a digital company, we want to do our part to ensure that access to digital technologies is also possible for people with disabilities, thereby breaking down social barriers," says Pfaff.
