Excitement and anticipation are in the air as the student media mentors (SMEPers) from the districts of Ravensburg and Lake Constance gather on 24.10.23 for the update day. The district media centers celebrated the dedicated young people who offer creative-informative media projects at schools as part of the SMEP state program.
b>The location of the Update Day was our Software Innovation Center (SIZ) in Friedrichshafen. Here it was possible to immerse oneself in the fascinating world of drones, VR glasses, Codey Rocky, autonomous driving and Makey Makey or find out about reliable research sources, e.g. from the police.
"It was a great honor to host so many talented young people who will shape the digital landscape of tomorrow. Their eagerness and creativity in utilizing new technologies was truly inspiring," said Julia Hensle, from Human Resources at doubleSlash. "We firmly believe that events like this build bridges between education and the real-world application of technology. It's fantastic to see these young innovators learning how to not only navigate the digital world, but actively shape it."
In a youth media protection workshop, media educator Eva Weiler from Heidelberg provided information on current developments in dealing with cyberbullying and hate speech. Another highlight was the media production session. Media education consultant Dominik Knebel from Karlsruhe familiarized the young people with SimpleShow, a tool that can be used to create creative explanatory films.
The grand finale of the day was the ceremonial presentation of the SMEP certificates, personally signed by the Minister of Education. The young people's faces were beaming, while the district councillors Harald Sievers and Luca Wilhelm Prayon and the Chief of Police Uwe Stürmer congratulated the SMEPers in a video message. The SMEP update day was not only a professional update, but also a celebration of enthusiasm and appreciation. The young people returned to their schools with a wealth of new knowledge and inspiration.
"We are incredibly proud of our SMEPers. They play an important role in raising awareness of responsible media use and actively shaping a digital future. This day is a big thank you for their extraordinary commitment," emphasized the heads of the Ravensburg and Lake Constance district media centers, Sebastian Frey and Roman Kleiner.
The successful SMEP update day impressively illustrates how important young people's media skills are for a society undergoing digital change. The Ravensburg and Lake Constance district media centers thus also emphasize their support for this future-oriented educational program.
