"Shoring is not just a cost project for us, but a way to strengthen our company in the long term—professionally, culturally and personally," says Managing Director Patrick Schmerbach. "We are not simply shareholders, but actively shape the development of the locations—from the onboarding of new colleagues to the transfer of knowledge. In this way, we ensure long-term stability and at the same time the usual doubleSlash quality. The decisive factor here is that we don't want a division into 'us' and 'them', but a joint team—One Team."
Quality knows no boundaries
To ensure that doubleSlash quality is also guaranteed internationally, the company relies on clear measures: Local enablers carry processes, coding guidelines and values into the teams. Employees are trained in intercultural collaboration, and shared tools such as Jira and Confluence ensure standardized processes.
Colleagues in Paraguay have already been working successfully on complex projects with—for over two years, not in the background but as full team members. "Software is not only created by code—it lives from the people who write it," emphasizes Schmerbach.
In addition, doubleSlash invests in language training, regular workshops and certifications such as TISAX, the recognized testing standard for information security in the automotive industry, so that the high quality standards can also be measured internationally.
Why Paraguay, why Bulgaria?
Paraguay is an unusual but deliberately chosen location. The decisive factor was a close connection to a former employee who was able to establish the doubleSlash culture locally. The country offers political stability, well-trained IT specialists and, thanks to the different time zones, the opportunity to continue projects seamlessly throughout the day.
Bulgaria impresses as a classic nearshore country with its proximity to Germany, EU membership, high level of legal certainty and a strong developer community in Bulgaria. The successful cooperation since 2020 has allowed trust to grow—Basis for the current partnership.
Together, open, sustainable
Whether in Germany, Paraguay or Bulgaria—at doubleSlash, collaboration should feel the same everywhere: at eye level, trusting and with a common goal. The shoring strategy therefore reflects the company's core values:
- Together: All locations work as equals and grow as One Team
- Open: Cultural differences are integrated in an appreciative manner and provide new impetus.
- Sustainable: In addition to financial stability, the main focus is on building shared knowledge, long-term employee loyalty and low staff turnover—Factors that create real stability.
Personal proximity also plays a role: colleagues from Germany can use the locations for workation, share everyday life with local teams and thus create encounters that go beyond the screen
Looking ahead
With Paraguay and Bulgaria, doubleSlash has put its shoring strategy on a strong footing. No further steps are currently planned, but the company remains open to new opportunities.
"We are all about partnership and quality. Because real strength is created where trust, responsibility and economic foresight come together," summarizes Schmerbach.
